1. General information
This subject aims to help students to comment, analyze and criticize current literary events. It offers specific training on the main topics related to contemporary literature, starting from aesthetic and historical points of view. For this purpose, will provide an orderly theoretical and practical vision with concrete analyses of literary works, especially relevant (fragments and complete works). Students must be able to understand, analyze and decode them.
Likewise, the student is expected to be able to locate, understand and assimilate the critical bibliography on the subject.
These approaches and goals are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals: 4: Quality Education. 5: Gender Equality. 10: Reduction of Inequalities 16: Peace, Justice and Strong institutions 17: Alliances to Achieve goals.
2. Learning results
The learning results derive directly from the acquisition of the following competencies:
- Become familiar with the main literary trends in the world today.
- Know, in a general way, the fundamental authors and works of contemporary literature.
- Acquire some clues about the historical, cultural and ideological aspects most frequently reflected in contemporary literature.
- Recognize aspects of national cultural identity in literary works.
- To develop an autonomous, critical and reflective attitude towards the representation of identity, society and history in contemporary literature.

Theory Program (Hispanic Literatures)
-The short story genre in the second half of the 20th century.
-The new Spanish-American novel.
-Currents of poetry since 1950.
4. Academic activities
Expository class. Practical classes. Tutoring. Individual and group work. Cooperative learning of text clues.
The subject is approached from a double methodological orientation that combines the traditional "master class" with the active participation of the student, who will have to get involved in cultural works and actions related to the current literary . The relevant issues of each topic will be explained in an orderly manner and guidance will be given on the bibliography and sources of knowledge suitable for learning. Materials will be provided in conventional support or digital.
5. Assessment system
First call.
Continuous assessment
Two written tests on readings proposed in the syllabus and texts provided by the teacher in class. One of these tests will be on Hispanic Literatures and the other on Theory of Literature. Each one of them scores 50% in the final grade.
Assessment criteria: Spelling, grammar and citation system; the order and clarity of the presentation; the precision in the use of historiographic concepts; the relevance of the bibliography cited; and the overall presentationwill be evaluated.
In continuous evaluation, students must take the two tests and must have a minimum grade of 4/10 in order to be average.
Global assessment
Students taking theglobal evaluation must pass two written tests as those indicated for the continuous evaluation. As in the case of the continuous evaluation, in order to average the grades of each of the parts, must have a minimum grade of 4/10.
